Ride2Recovery Military Bicyclists Coming to Tomball
More than 200 veterans, wounded soldiers, and active military personnel will be pedaling into Tomball on Sunday morning as the Ride 2 Recovery bicyclists make their first stop on a journey that spans from Houston to Fort Worth. The organization aids service men and women in both mental and physical recovery, using cycling as a core component. Each member is given a bicycle that is altered to fit the injuries of the recipient, along with mechanical support, food, and lodging during the ride. The participants are expected to start arriving around 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 19th. They will ride in from east of FM 2920, break at the Historic Downtown Depot (201 S. Elm St.), and then exit along Main Street to Four Corners before riding north on Business HWY 249. The bicyclists are only expected to be in town until around 10:30 a.m. Mayor Gretchen Fagan has asked residents to show their support for these brave men and women by coming out to the Depot, or lining Main Street, wearing their red, white, and blue. Free signs and hand-sized flags will be handed out to those who attend to show their support at the Depot.
