LSC - Tomball Professor Nominated For Award

Lone Star College-Tomball Speech professor Dr. Sean Tiffee has been nominated for the Minnie Stevens Piper Foundation Award. This prestigious award is based on nominations from colleges across the state of Texas.

“I am humbled to have been nominated by LSC-Tomball for the Minnie Stevens Piper award. For me, teaching here is an honor and a privilege,” Dr. Tiffee said. A LSC-Tomball faculty member since 2012, his accomplishments and service are plenty. He is the co-founder of the LSC-Tomball Speaking Excellence Center, the co-advisor of the Model United Nations, recipient of the Faculty Excellence Award, and a faculty representative on many committees and initiatives, one being an adjudicator for Lone Star College Honors Day.

Organized in 1950, the Minnie Stevens Piper Foundation is a non-profit, charitable corporation focused on postsecondary education in Texas. Each year, the foundation selects ten Piper Professors from across Texas for their superior teaching at the college level. The ten professors are honored for their dedication to teaching and their outstanding academic, scientific, and scholarly achievements.

Described by his students as “innovative,” “an intellectual,” and “good at making the information relevant to [their] lives,” Dr. Tiffee continues to teach a full load of classes, while seeing to all his other duties. “I am surrounded by wonderful colleagues and am thankful to be given the opportunity to work daily with engaged and inquisitive students from our community,” Dr. Tiffee said. “I appreciate all of the support that I receive from our administration, particularly Dr. Lee Ann Nutt [LSC-Tomball president] and Dr. Quentin Wright [LSC-Tomball vice president of instruction], and the community of Tomball.”

According to Dr. Wright, Dr. Tiffee “is a faculty member who embodies our LSC 20l20 Cultural Beliefs, that students matter because of his involvement in various student organizations, better together because of his work with colleagues, and inspire excellence by being involved in so many different aspects of the life on campus.”
Lone Star College-Tomball is located at 30555 Tomball Parkway, at the intersection of SH 249 and Zion Road. For more information about the college, call 281.351.3300 or visit
